Just be sexy, yeah? Best advice ever when you are trying to learn some new dance moves…

Jessy (centre front) and the amazing Wicked Women dance crew!

This month we were joined by the fabulous Jessy from the Fit Chicks Academy to learn some dancehall, afro-beat, Beyonce dance moves!  Part dance class, part workout (plus some singing and awkward posing – more about that later), Jessy wants to get everyone to be comfortable with their bodies, have fun and get a good workout through dance. I’m not sure how comfortable we were with all the bum-wiggling, but we definitely had a LOT of fun and there was a lot of sweating going on…

We started with a (not very) gentle warm up and some exercises to get us to release our bodies and get moving.  Basically a load of bum-wiggling and waving your arms around.  Jessy made it look super-cool, at this point I think most of us still felt kinda awkward!  There was definitely a lot of giggling going on…

Practising some sexy/angry poses…

We then moved on to a bit of choreography involving looking ‘sexy’ then getting cross with people for potentially looking more sexy.  Then some moves involving picking apples from trees, brushing dirt from your hands and legs and then an incredible Jamaican dancehall move called ‘The Crocodile’ where you basically stomped around the room looking a bit furious them faced off with other people and did crocodile poses with your hands around your face. By now we were seasoned dance professionals and there was no laughing whatsoever, just loads of scary crocs marching around the room…

Then a final cool down and we were done!
